Summer Workshop in Scholarly Translation – Chinese/English
August 3 – 22, 2009 Fudan University, Shanghai, China
This program is designed to teach the general principles of translation, understood not as a theory, but as a practical way of coping with the choices a translator will make. The workshop is open to graduate students and professionals working in any scholarly discipline with an advanced reading knowledge of Chinese and English. The goal is to teach participants to render scholarly texts in their fields from Chinese into English or English into Chinese. Participants will translate texts of their own choosing relevant to their research interests.
