Por tercer año consecutivo, el tradicional congreso que la Organización Mexicana de Traductores Capítulo Occidente celebra anualmente se llevará a cabo en el marco de la Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL) los días 28 y 29 de noviembre de 2009. La FIL es la feria del libro más grande del mundo de habla hispana y la segunda más importante a nivel mundial, y ofrece oportunidades de establecer contactos y explorar terrenos profesionales para los traductores.

El congreso tiene como propósito servir como foro para la actualización y el enriquecimiento profesional de traductores e intérpretes, y pretende convertirse en un espacio de reflexión sobre los problemas de orden práctico y cultural que enfrentamos en nuestro trabajo. Con este fin, se invita a expertos de talla internacional a compartir sus puntos de vista y conocimientos especializados sobre la teoría y la práctica de la traducción. Asimismo, habrá sesiones educativas sobre diversos temas relacionados con la traducción e interpretación.

CIUTI Symposium Community Interpreting

The Department of Translation Studies at the University of Graz will host a CIUTI Symposium on Community Interpreting (CI) from 17 -19 September 2009: Community Interpreting: Training and Research at University Level.

The Symposium aims at establishing an exchange of information and initiating a discussion process on topics relevant to research on CI and training measures for CI. The symposium will provide plenary papers as well as workshops on a selected set of topics.

CLS Legal Translation Conference

The CLS Communication Legal Translation Conference will give existing and aspiring legal translators the opportunity to meet and listen to high-calibre legal experts and professionals, as well as the chance to get together and exchange ideas with other legal translators. [...]
The day will include a series of presentations by senior lawyers, experienced legal translators and academics who will be speaking on a wide-range of topics and giving their own personal perspectives. The speakers are multi-national and have experience of working under numerous jurisdictions, and this will be reflected in their presentations.

International Postgraduate Conference in Translation and Interpreting 2009

The IPCITI conferences are unique spaces where scholars from a variety of disciplines and professional cohorts meet to discuss work in progress in their fields of interest. This event marks the consolidation of a series of international conferences organised in collaboration between the University of Edinburgh, Dublin City University, the University of Manchester and Heriot-Watt University.

The fundamental aim of this conference is to promote a supportive environment in which young researchers can exchange ideas on current themes and issues in Translation Studies.

‘Translate in the Catskills’ seminar

A two-day seminar exclusively for translators interested in polishing their target language writing skills.

This intensive, advanced level workshop will be based primarily on examples from French>English and English>French translation, but the focus is on writing. Translators of other languages are very welcome.

International Symposium – Technical Translation and Terminology for Cross-Cultural Dialogue

The Department of Translation and Interpreting at Hacettepe University is proud to host the closing international symposium of TermTurk (Terminology for cross-cultural dialogue and specialized communication) Project which has been conducted since June 2008. Our project partners are the University of Vienna, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, the Politechnica University of Timisoara, International Network for Terminology (TermNet) and Başkent University, Ankara.

The TermTurk Project has been funded by the European Union.

This Symposium brings together terminologists, linguists, professional translators and interpreters, technical writers, representatives of NGOs and state institutes, EU specialists, experts of international affairs, researchers and students of related fields.

The program will include plenary sessions, parallel sessions and poster presentations.
