Interpret America 2010 Summit

Categories:  June 2010

Interpret America 2010 – 1st North American Summit on Interpreting

Date: June 17, 2010
Location:Washington, DC

From the Interpret America website:

Leaders from across the interpreting spectrum – community, conference, legal, medical, military and signed language – will attend this one-day summit aimed at taking stock of our field in today’s marketplace and legislative environment.

Interpreting as a profession has expanded exponentially over the past decade; yet it remains fragmented with no single body or organization promoting the field as a whole. At InterpretAmerica, we feel the time is ripe for our field to unite around its similarities. Our goal is to launch an open and ongoing forum where key players from all branches of interpreting can gather and foster greater connection among its many sectors. With leadership and collaboration we will achieve the broad national recognition, respect and remuneration we are all working towards.

The conference will include prominent figures who will present the most up-to-date and relevant information available from across the interpreting field. The day will close with an interactive open forum designed to identify critical next steps.

Those attending include leading figures from professional associations, major training and educational institutions, language service providers, government agencies, as well as researchers and other key individuals promoting the field of interpreting.
